Alejandra Calle

What About Me?
My name is Alejandra Calle, I'm a Hispanic illustrator, writer, and photographer. I was born in New Jersey and moved to Georgia. Ever since I was young, I was enamored with the process of creation; whether for fun or as an outlet, art has been a consistent measure of my growth as an individual and I cannot see myself parting from it anytime soon.
I make art because it acts as an insight into what I want to see it become. I make art to tell stories, and I am enthralled with every aspect of creating it. From research to planning, concept art to preliminary drafts, to then finalized pieces. As part of my research, I try to understand the make of everything I'm drawing and the techniques or
style I'm trying to imitate. I also consider how the drawings are framed from a photographic point of view, such as the angles, composition, and even cropping of a piece. I primarily use digital art programs when doing my illustrations, such as Medibang Paint Pro and Clip Studio Paint.
My art ultimately surrounds the creation and revision of characters made to forward a narrative. The worlds I bring to life are characters themselves, too. That comes with the territory of fantasy, and I do my best to make the world feel lived in even when the characters are taken out of context. I learn to ensure the worlds I create are at least accurate, and it's a way I can take what I learn in school and apply it in a meaningful way.
